This week on TV Ireland, we find out more about the work of Mayo County Council's Local Authority Integration Team (LAIT) and meet some of the people and communities they support across County Mayo.

The team works with people who have come to live in Mayo, helping them access services, learn English, find opportunities in education and employment, and become involved in their local communities.

As part of the programme, we join celebrations marking Refugee Week 2026, which this year carried the national theme "Courage", celebrating connection, welcome and the contributions of refugee communities across Ireland.

We visit Lough Lannagh in Castlebar to experience the celebrations and meet some of those involved. We also travel to Achill Island, where we meet people developing their English-language skills and hear about their experiences of making a new life in Mayo.

Finally, we're at The Linenhall Arts Centre in Castlebar for Somalia: A Nation of Poets, where members of Mayo's Somali community shared traditional and contemporary poetry and celebrated the important place poetry holds within Somali culture.

Join us for a programme celebrating integration, culture, diversity and community, and discover some of the work taking place across Mayo to help people feel welcome, connected and at home.

The Mall in Castlebar became the heart of the celebrations as thousands of Mayo supporters gathered to watch the 2026 All-Ireland Senior Football Final on a giant outdoor screen. Organised by Castlebar Chamber in partnership with Mayo County Council, the event brought the community together to cheer on Mayo as they faced Kerry in Croke Park.

As the final whistle sounded, decades of heartbreak gave way to pure joy. After 75 years, Mayo were once again crowned All-Ireland Senior Football Champions, bringing the Sam Maguire Cup back to the county for the first time since 1951.
